The region aroundPiesendorf and Kaprun is one of the most diverse hiking areas in Salzburger Land. Between theHohe Tauern National Park, the high mountain reservoirs in the Kaprun Valley and the gentle grassy mountainsaround Piesendorf there are numerous hiking trails for every level of fitness. From leisurely walks in the valley to scenic summit tours, an impressive mountain landscape opens up with alpine pastures, mountain lakes and wide panoramic views.

Many hikes start directly in the valley and lead through forests, across alpine meadows or along clear mountain streams. Particularly pleasant: Many paths are also ideal for holidays with dogs. Well-developed hiking trails, shady forest passages and numerous water sources make the region ideal for tours with your four-legged friend.

Klammsee and Sigmund-Thun-Klamm

A particularly varied hike leads to the Sigmund Thun Gorge in Kaprun. The path through the impressive gorge runs over wooden footbridges along the roaring Kapruner Ache and ends at the idyllic Klammsee. A pleasant walking path leads around the lake with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains.

The round is easy to walk and is also suitable for families and dogs. Especially on warm days, the Klammsee offers a pleasant place to cool off and many nice places to linger.

Mooserboden high mountain reservoirs

A real highlight is a hike around the high mountain reservoirs Mooserboden in the Kaprun Valley. Surrounded by impressive three-thousanders, the area offers spectacular views of the high mountains and the glacier on the Kitzsteinhorn.

Several panoramic paths lead around the reservoir with views of the turquoise water and the huge dam wall. This tour is also possible with a dog, as long as the four-legged friend is kept on a leash.

Maiskogel Panoramaweg

The Maiskogel is a particularly family-friendly hiking mountain in Kaprun. The cable car takes you easily to the starting point for several beautiful panoramic trails. From there, leisurely hikes lead across alpine meadows and viewing points with views of the Kitzsteinhorn and the entire Salzach Valley.

Many of the paths are also suitable for dogs and always offer shady sections and rest areas.

Pinzgau walk

A particularly panoramic high-altitude trail leads over the well-known Pinzgauer Walk above Piesendorf. The Panorama Trail is one of the most beautiful hikes in the region and offers impressive views of the Hohe Tauern and the Salzach Valley.

The tour leads over alpine meadows and gentle mountain ridges and is ideal for experienced hikers. This hike is also possible with a dog, as long as grazing animals are taken into consideration.

The region around Kaprun and Piesendorf is particularly dog-friendly. Many hiking trails lead through forests, along streams or to mountain lakes, so dogs always find opportunities to cool off. However, it is important to always keep dogs on a leash in alpine areas and when encountering grazing animals.
